It is a copy of a 1940s handmade skirt and we have it in a buncha colors and four sizes. Drapes you in very danceable material from the waist to just below most women's knees. These are NOT HEMMED - but the bottom is SERGED (that means it's finished with thread whipped around the bottom - and is perfect just the way it is...) but if you want a shorter skirt, the serging will allow you to easily iron it under and stitch around it - so if you don't like it that long you can hem it to the perfect length for you. Frankly, the serging makes it just a bit flouncy at the bottom - which is gorgeously feminine. Waistband fastens with a button and left side zipper. Very easy care Polyester - Machine Washable! We washed them in cold water and found they were perfect right out of the dryer - so you will not have to iron them before going out. (we discovered that they do best on a cool "permanent press" dryer setting.) "Bias Cut" means that the weave is diagonal when they sew it together - which makes it hang like silk curtains. (all Thirties' gowns hang like a dream because pretty much everything was bias cut back then!) |

At left is a photo of the back of a brown one... the brown skirt is actually much darker than in this photo which has been lightened to show how nicely the skirt hangs. The Slate Blue color is very, very subtle (more slate than blue) and is devistatingly beautiful on blondes. The "Golden Brown" and the "Shiny Crimson" are slightly shiny and have hundreds of little streaks of "not shiny" (for lack of a better term) all through it... we assure you that it is quite beautiful. (see photo above) ABOUT THE
FABRIC: All the fabrics are quite nice and very danceable. |
